Amulet of the Fey
By: Arjan Wardekker
Type: Wearable (magic)
Game: Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) / Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D)

The Amulet of the Fey is an item that was created by faeries and it was intended as a gift to a person who once saved the lives of many of those faeries.

The amulet looks like a wooden butterfly, with a red gem in the middle of it. If checked for, the gem appears to have a value of about 30 gp. The amulet hangs from the neck with a silver necklace.

The Amulet of the Fey grants the wearer darkvision (3rd edition) or infravision (2nd edition) with a range of 60 feet.
The wearer may cast the following spells once a day: faery fire, detect good/evil.
The wearer may also cast the following spells once a week: invisibility, tree, ghost sound (3rd edition) or audible glamer (2nd edition), minor image (3rd edition) or improved phantasmal force (2nd edition), charm person/mammal.
The wearer can polymorph into a sprite once a week. This does not include the sprite's innate abilties, but the user will be able to fly as a normal sprite would be able to do, because of his/her wings. The polymorphed user will retain his/her normal AC, hit points, etc and his armor, clothing and equipment are reduced to sprite-sized. The polymorph has a maximum duration of 12 hours, but can be ended at will.
The wearer can also polymorph into a tree once a week (maximum duration of 12 hours), but that is instead of the sprite form, so he cannot do both. During this polymorph, the user will asume the form of an oak tree and receive an AC 0 (no modifiers). He will retain his normal hit points. While in tree-form, the user functions as a dryad, but without the dryad's special abilities.
